New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) winning candidates in the Telangana Members of the Legislative Council (MLC) elections, calling the victory a testament to the party’s growing support in the state.

Taking to X, PM Modi expressed gratitude to the people of Telangana and lauded the dedication of BJP workers. “I thank the people of Telangana for blessing the BJP with such phenomenal support in the MLC elections. Congratulations to our newly elected candidates. I am very proud of our Party Karyakartas who are working among the people with great diligence,” he posted.

The BJP secured two out of the three MLC seats in the elections held on February 27, with votes counted on March 3. BJP’s Malka Komaraiah triumphed in the Medak-Karimnagar-Adilabad-Nizamabad (Teachers) Constituency, while Chinnamail Anji Reddy emerged victorious in the Karimnagar-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Medak (Graduate) Constituency. The Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Teachers’ MLC seat was won by independent candidate Sripal Reddy Pingili.

Union Minister and Telangana BJP chief G Kishan Reddy termed the victory “significant,” emphasizing the party’s strengthening base in the state. “BJP secures two out of the three MLC seats with a commanding margin. This triumph is a victory for our youth and teachers, who have decisively rejected Congress for its failed governance and inability to address their concerns,” Reddy stated on X.
