Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a captivating journey through the enchanting wilderness of Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve on the morning of March 9, immersing himself in the breathtaking beauty of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Accompanied by park director Sonali Ghosh and esteemed forest officials, PM Modi embarked on both an elephant safari and a jeep ride, traversing the picturesque landscapes of the Central Kohora Range.
His inaugural visit to Kaziranga was marked by moments of awe and appreciation as he marveled at the majestic rhinoceroses that roam the park’s verdant expanses. Expressing his admiration for the diverse wildlife that calls Kaziranga home, PM Modi shared his sentiments on social media platform X, inviting fellow citizens to partake in the unparalleled splendor of the national park and to bask in the warmth of Assam’s hospitality.
“Feeding sugar cane to Lakhimai, Pradyumna, and Phoolmai,” PM Modi’s post encapsulated his interaction with the resident elephants, underscoring the rich biodiversity that Kaziranga encapsulates beyond its famed rhinoceros population.
Following his exploration of Kaziranga, PM Modi’s itinerary for the day was packed with significant engagements aimed at catalyzing Assam’s development trajectory. In the historic town of Jorhat, he is scheduled to inaugurate the ‘Statue of Valour’ commemorating legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan, paying tribute to Assam’s illustrious heritage.
Subsequently, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for an array of central and state projects collectively valued at approximately Rs 18,000 crore in Meleng Meteli Pothar, Jorhat district. These projects span diverse sectors including healthcare, oil and gas, railways, and housing, reflecting the government’s commitment to fostering holistic growth and prosperity in the region.
Of particular significance are the initiatives under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North Eastern Region (PM-DevINE) scheme, which include the establishment of a Medical College & Hospital in Sivasagar and a Hemato-Lymphoid center in Guwahati. Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for pivotal oil and gas projects aimed at enhancing production capacity and infrastructure, underscoring the strategic importance of Assam in India’s energy landscape.
The day culminates with a stirring public address in Jorhat, where PM Modi will illuminate the government’s vision for propelling Assam towards a brighter future through concerted efforts across various sectors.
