PM Modi Condoles Loss of Lives in Jaipur-Ajmer Highway Accident, Announces Rs 2 Lakh Ex-Gratia for Victims’ Families

Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident that occurred on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan, which claimed the lives of at least eight people and left more than 30 others injured. On Friday, the Prime Minister took to social media to extend his condolences to the families of the victims and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of those deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). He also offered a compensation of Rs 50,000 each to the injured.

In his message, PM Modi said, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the accident on the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway in Rajasthan. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000 each.”

The horrific accident took place on Friday morning when an LPG gas tanker collided with a truck, triggering a massive explosion. The explosion resulted in a fire that quickly engulfed the surrounding area. A sleeper bus carrying 34 passengers was caught in the blaze. Of the 34 passengers, 20 suffered severe burns, while 14 others, including the driver and conductor, are still missing.

The local authorities and emergency teams rushed to the scene to assist the affected individuals, and efforts are ongoing to locate those still missing. The blast was so intense that it caused towering flames, which reportedly burned several birds in the vicinity, adding to the scale of the devastation.

The state government has initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident and is providing full assistance to the victims and their families. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also expressed his condolences, assuring that the state government would extend all possible help to the injured and bereaved families.

This tragedy has left the community in shock, and the loss of life has prompted an outpouring of grief from across the nation. PM Modi’s swift announcement of financial assistance has provided some solace to the families affected by the calamity. However, the incident underscores the need for stronger safety measures on highways, particularly for vehicles carrying hazardous materials.
