Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday, accusing her of undermining revered socio-religious organizations to placate her political base. During a rally in Bishnupur, Modi condemned Banerjee’s comments about ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission, and Bharat Sevashram Sangha, claiming she is “under pressure from Muslim fundamentalists.”

“In their desperation, TMC leaders have started hurling abuses at prestigious organizations like ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission, and Bharat Sevashram Sangha. These organizations have brought glory to Bengal, but the CM of the state claims they are ruining Bengal. Under pressure from Muslim fundamentalists, she has publicly insulted our faith,” Modi declared. He reiterated similar sentiments at a previous rally in Purulia, emphasizing, “The TMC has crossed the limits of decency by stooping so low that it is spreading canards against ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha.”

Modi highlighted the significant contributions of these organizations, stating, “Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha are known for service and morality, but the chief minister of Bengal is openly threatening them from an open platform… They are threatening them just to appease their vote bank.” He also pointed out the issue of migration for employment, attributing it to the governance failures of the TMC and Congress. “The thinking of TMC and Congress is not about development or employment. These parties only know how to spread nepotism and corruption,” he added.

Addressing corruption within the TMC, Modi didn’t hold back. He referred to the teacher recruitment scam, accusing the party of jeopardizing the future of the youth for monetary gain. “The TMC has not spared even the children in their hunger to earn money. Poor parents have made their living by selling their houses and lands and taking loans. They bribed the ministers. I guarantee you Modi will make them sell off their bungalows and cars,” he asserted.

Taking aim at the I.N.D.I.A bloc, Modi claimed that whether it is the TMC, Left, or Congress, they are fundamentally the same despite appearing as separate entities. “The sins of all of them are the same, that is why they have formed the I.N.D.I.A bloc together. They have always given slogans to the poor, laborers, SC-ST, but wherever they ruled the governments, they left those states poor and West Bengal is an example of that,” he concluded.

The Prime Minister’s remarks underscore the intense political battle in West Bengal, highlighting issues of corruption, religious tensions, and governance that are set to play a pivotal role in the upcoming elections.
