The much-anticipated Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme officially opens its registration portal today at 5 PM, inviting applications from the youth of India. The initiative aims to connect 1 crore young people with valuable internship opportunities, enhancing their skills and employability. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply online at the official portal: pminternship.mca.gov.in.

The official website states, “The portal is open for youth registration and profile creation from 5 PM today. After you register and create your profile, you will be notified of the internship opportunities on your registered email/mobile number. The option to choose from internship opportunities will be made available thereafter.”

Who is Eligible to Apply?

To be considered for this internship program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Background: Candidates should have completed high school education and hold a certificate from an ITI, a diploma from a Polytechnic Institute, or a degree in fields such as BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, or BPharma.
  • Age Limit: Applicants must be between 21 and 24 years old by the application deadline.
  • Work Status: Eligible candidates must be Indian citizens and should not be engaged in a full-time job or enrolled in a full-time educational program. Those enrolled in online or distance learning courses can apply.

How to Apply?

The application process is straightforward. Here are the steps to register:

  1. Visit the Official Website: Navigate to pminternship.mca.gov.in.
  2. Register: On the homepage, locate and select the registration option. A new page will open.
  3. Fill in the Details: Complete the registration form with the required details and documents, then click the submit button.

Notably, there is no registration or application fee. Upon submission, candidates will have an automatically generated resume and can apply for up to five internship opportunities based on their preferences.

Financial Support for Interns

Interns selected under this scheme will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 throughout the 12-month internship period. This stipend is part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, where ₹500 is contributed by the company and ₹4,500 by the government. Additionally, interns will receive a one-time financial support of ₹6,000 to cover incidental expenses.

This initiative not only aims to enhance the skills of young Indians but also seeks to foster a culture of internship and practical experience, paving the way for a more skilled workforce in the country.
