Srinagar: In the 9 hour-long gunfight that ensued during a cordon-and-search operation that began in the early hours of Friday morning, two militants were killed while an Army Major, two policemen were injured in Yedipora area of Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
An official told that in the ongoing gunfight one more SPO has been injured and rushed to nearby MI hospital for treatment. The officer added that operation is still in process.

Earlier in the exchange of fire two militants were killed while an army major and SPO were injured.
Pertinently, a joint team of Army’s 29 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation in Yaropora village of Pattan. As the search party encircled the target house the militants hiding inside fired upon them thus triggering a gunfight.
