New Delhi: BJP leader Parvesh Verma has accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal of instructing his driver to run over three youths protesting against him during a door-to-door campaign near Lal Bahadur Sadan on Saturday. Verma refuted AAP’s claim that Kejriwal’s car was attacked, calling the allegations “baseless.”
Verma, the BJP candidate for the New Delhi assembly constituency, alleged that the incident occurred when three local residents—identified as Vishal, Abhishek, and Rohit—approached Kejriwal with questions about unemployment. According to Verma, the youths were roughed up by Punjab Police personnel accompanying Kejriwal, and one of the protesters’ phones was damaged during the scuffle.
The BJP leader claimed that as the car moved, the driver initially applied the brakes upon noticing the youths but was allegedly signaled by Kejriwal to proceed. “Arvind Kejriwal signaled the driver to crush them. The youths were injured. This is an attempt to murder. I am heading to the police station, and the youths will also file an FIR,” Verma said.
Verma dismissed AAP’s claims of an attack on Kejriwal’s car as unfounded and called for an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, AAP has yet to respond to the allegations publicly, and the incident has sparked a heated political exchange between the two parties amid ongoing election campaigns.
