New Delhi:Tensions surged dramatically along the India-Pakistan border on Friday evening as a fresh wave of Pakistani drones breached Indian airspace, triggering a rapid and forceful response from Indian security forces. In one alarming incident, a drone dropped explosives on a residential area in Punjab’s Firozpur district, injuring three members of the same family.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ferozepur, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, confirmed the civilian injuries and noted the scale of the incursion. “We received reports of three people being injured, suffering from burn wounds. Doctors are currently treating them. The majority of the drones have been neutralised by the army,” he said.
Medical authorities at the local hospital said the victims were rushed in with burn injuries caused by a drone-borne bomb. Providing an update, Dr. Kamal Bagi stated: “Three people were injured due to a drone bomb. One woman is in critical condition with severe burns, while the other two have sustained lesser burns. We have immediately begun their treatment. All three are from the same family.”
This latest attack comes just a day after India thwarted a large-scale Pakistani aerial offensive that targeted military installations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border. The coordinated response by Indian air defence units prevented major damage, but security across northern and western India has been significantly heightened.
Drone sightings were reported on Friday evening in several sensitive sectors including Jammu, Samba, and Pathankot. Eyewitnesses in Samba described seeing red streaks in the sky followed by explosions as air defence systems intercepted incoming drones. In response to the escalating threat, authorities enforced blackouts across vulnerable areas—Akhnoor and Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir, Ambala and Panchkula in Haryana, Firozpur in Punjab, and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.
