Delhi: Union Minister Chirag Paswan launched a sharp attack on the Opposition, accusing some leaders of prioritising media attention over responsible governance and parliamentary dignity. Speaking on the recent disruptions in Parliament, Paswan said that certain political figures thrive on controversy and divisive remarks rather than constructive debate.
Paswan stressed that the NDA, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, continues to follow the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”, focusing on inclusive development and stable governance. In contrast, he criticised the Opposition’s conduct inside Parliament, calling it damaging to democratic traditions.
Referring to recent scenes in the House, Paswan said the country witnessed disturbing visuals where Opposition MPs allegedly stood on the Secretary General’s table and threw papers towards the Chair. He described these actions as a clear departure from parliamentary decorum and an insult to democratic institutions.
The Union Minister revealed that during the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, Prime Minister Modi specifically spoke about the importance of maintaining dignity, discipline, and respect inside Parliament. Paswan said the Prime Minister reminded MPs that Parliament is a temple of democracy and should function with mutual respect, even amid disagreements.
Taking a direct swipe at the Leader of Opposition, Paswan remarked that arrogance and rigid attitudes have harmed not just one leader but the entire Opposition bloc. According to him, repeated disruptions and confrontational tactics have resulted in the Opposition “washing itself out” during crucial parliamentary sessions.
