As Maharashtra gears up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the latest India TV-CNX Opinion Poll forecasts a resounding victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led coalition, comprising Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The survey anticipates a dominant performance by the alliance across various regions of the state.

The state, which will witness polling for 48 seats in the first five phases of the elections, has seen significant political maneuvers in recent days. The Shiv Sena (UBT) recently announced four additional candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, including Vaishali Darekar-Rane for the prestigious Kalyan constituency, currently held by state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s son Shrikant Shinde. With this announcement, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party has finalized candidates for 21 seats in Maharashtra, with voting scheduled to commence from April 19.

  • The BJP is projected to secure three seats in Mumbai, while Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena is expected to clinch two.

  • The NDA alliance is poised to sweep Maharashtra’s Thane-Konkan region, with both the BJP and Shinde’s Shiv Sena projected to win three seats each, while Ajit Pawar’s NCP is expected to secure one seat.
  • Conversely, the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar’s NCP may face disappointment in the Thane-Konkan region.
  • In Western Maharashtra, the BJP is predicted to win five seats, with NCP (Sharad Pawar) likely to secure two seats.
  • Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar, is anticipated to defeat Supriya Sule in Maharashtra’s Baramati constituency.
  • The BJP-led NDA alliance is anticipated to sweep Mumbai, Thane-Konkan, and Western Maharashtra.
  • Pankaja Munde of the BJP is leading in Maharashtra’s Beed constituency.
