Srinagar: The multi-dimensional Mawar Youth programme extending for two days, saved its best for day two. Mehmood Ahmad Shah, a distinguished and celebrated personality of Kashmir’s exotic Handloom and Handicrafts industry, took an exquisite seminar on “Skill development and opportunities for Youth of Kashmir” along with a colourful kiosk of Kashmiri handicrafts.
The stage thereafter was taken over by Faizal Ali Dar an executive member of the National Council of Sports Science and Physical Education, the youngest Padma Shri awardee of Jammu and Kashmir. Dar delivered an essential and inimitable lecture on “Drug Addiction and Youth of Kashmir”.
The day was yet not over as the valley was enveloped with the scintillating tones of Strings of Baramulla. A band composed of the natives of the valley who believe that music holds the power beyond any else.
Besides this the locals of the Mawar valley also participated in the spirited volleyball championship. A game that brought all the villages of the area together cheering and supporting their teams to win. The final match was played on August 25 with Lawoosa village team emerging as the winner.
The felicitation of the speakers and the winners of various competitions was done by the guest of honour Brigadier R K Bora, Commander 17 Infantry Brigade. His kind words of appreciation served as a strong motivation for all present.
This serene valley of Mawar, which often suffers from isolation from Kashmir’s mainland came and sincere effort by the Indian Army not just brought the hearts closer but served as a strong bridge between the security forces and the Kashmiri Awam (people).
