“No Compromise with Terrorism Until Pakistan Changes”: Anil Desai Backs PM Modi; Aaditya Thackeray Slams BCCI Over Asia Cup

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Anil Desai has strongly backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day remarks on Pakistan and terrorism, calling them “absolutely correct” and asserting that peace between the two nations is impossible until Pakistan abandons its support for terror.

Speaking on Friday, Desai said, “The way Pakistan has given a platform to terrorism, terror, and insurgency between India and Pakistan, it is impossible to have any compromise there until their actions stop and they come on the right path.” His comments came shortly after PM Modi’s address from the Red Fort, where the Prime Minister declared that India has “set a new normal” in its fight against terrorism.

In contrast, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MLA Aaditya Thackeray used the PM’s message to launch a scathing attack on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for agreeing to play Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup T20.

“It’ll be a real shame if the BCCI thinks it’s above what the PM said from Red Fort today… the greed for money of the BCCI stands above the sacrifice of the Armed Forces, the Nation and even the PM saying blood and water cannot flow together,” Thackeray posted on X. He also accused the BCCI of hiding behind Asia Cup rules instead of using its influence in the ICC to take a stand.

During his speech, PM Modi hailed the success of Operation Sindoor, a cross-border strike targeting terror sites in Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack, where terrorists killed men in front of their families after asking their religion. “Our brave jawans punished the enemy beyond its imagination,” the PM said, saluting the armed forces for their courage.
