Maharashtra Makes Marathi Mandatory in Classes 1 to 10 Across All Schools

The Maharashtra government has made Marathi compulsory for students from Classes 1 to 10 in all schools across every education board in the state. School Education Minister Dada Bhuse said strict action will be taken against schools that fail to implement the rule. He also warned that officials responsible for enforcing the policy could face action if they do not ensure compliance. Schools found violating the directive may face penalties and, in cases of continued non-compliance, even cancellation of their recognition.
