Patna: Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has backed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to provide free electricity up to 125 units to all domestic consumers, calling it a step in the right direction for the state’s citizens.
“The decision of the Nitish government is welcome. 125 units of electricity have been made free. This will provide relief to the people. There will be no reduction in revenue due to this…” said Manjhi, appreciating the move’s expected economic balance and social impact.
The announcement, seen as a significant electoral pitch, is likely to benefit over 1.6 crore families across Bihar and is part of the CM’s latest welfare initiatives.
Meanwhile, addressing the recent firing incident at Patna’s Paras Hospital, Manjhi clarified that it was not a law and order failure by the state, but an isolated gang-related event.
“This is a private hospital, not a government one… This is an incident related to a gang war… In such incidents, immediate action is taken by the government…” he said, defending the administration’s prompt response to the crisis.
