NIA Raids At Multiple Locations In Maharashtra; Several Detained In Sambhaji Nagar, Jalna & Malegaon

In a major crackdown against terrorism, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) executed a series of coordinated raids today, targeting 22 locations across five states, including Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Delhi. This operation is part of an ongoing investigation into a terror conspiracy allegedly involving the Pakistan-based militant group, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

Detentions and Raids in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, the raids spanned across Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Jalna, and Malegaon, resulting in the detention of four individuals with suspected ties to JeM. Initial reports indicate that the NIA is focusing on dismantling potential terror networks connected to the organization.

Malegaon Arrests: Former SIMI Member Under Scrutiny

In Malegaon, authorities are interrogating Mukhtar Ansari, a former member of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), for his alleged links to JeM. NIA officials, supported by local police, conducted a raid on a homeopathy clinic located in Abdullah Nagar, on Mashriki Iqbal Road. This operation is part of a broader effort to disrupt terrorist activities in the region.

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Operations: Key Suspects Detained

Meanwhile, in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, NIA agents raided a property in Kiradpura early in the morning, where they detained Maulana Syed Ilyas, a local prayer leader and madrasa teacher, around 9 AM. Two other suspects were apprehended from the N-6 area during the operation. All three individuals are currently being interrogated at the Sambhajinagar ATS office.

Further Developments in Jalna: Leather Trader Detained

In Jalna, several individuals were also detained, including Nadeem Sheikh Saudagar, a leather trader from Gandhi Nagar. Saudagar is among those being investigated for alleged support of JeM’s activities, raising concerns about the extent of the terror network operating within the state.

Nationwide Operation Against Terrorism

The NIA’s extensive operation, linked to case RC-13/24/NIA/DLI, underscores the agency’s intensified commitment to combat terror-related activities across various states. With multiple suspects under investigation, officials are optimistic that this crackdown may reveal critical links to JeM’s operational network.
