Actor Ranbir Kapoor is currently in Los Angeles to launch the much-awaited teaser of his upcoming film Ramayana, one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema.
During a Q&A session with director Nitesh Tiwari, Ranbir spoke about portraying Lord Ram and the deeper meaning of the iconic character.

Reflecting on the role, Ranbir said Lord Ram has been a guiding force for billions across generations.
“Lord Ram has been the conscience keeper of billions of people around the globe for centuries and will continue long after we are gone,” he said.
He further described Ram as a symbol of:
- Compassion
- Courage
- Righteousness
- Forgiveness
“He is called Maryada Purushottam, which stands for an ideal man,” Ranbir added.
Teaser to Release on Hanuman Jayanti
Producer Namit Malhotra revealed that a new glimpse of Ramayana will be unveiled on April 2, marking the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.
Star-Studded Cast
The film boasts a powerful ensemble cast:
- Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram
- Sai Pallavi as Sita
- Yash as Ravana
- Sunny Deol as Hanuman
- Ravi Dubey as Lakshman
With such a lineup, Ramayana is being positioned as a global cinematic spectacle.
Massive Scale & Global Collaboration
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is being produced by Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG, an Oscar-winning VFX company, along with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
The makers are aiming to blend Indian storytelling with Hollywood-level visual effects.
Release Timeline
Ramayana will be released in two parts:
- Part 1: Diwali 2026
- Part 2: Diwali 2027
Both parts are planned for a worldwide IMAX release, making it one of the biggest film projects ever undertaken in India.
