Srinagar: New Delhi’s Special NIA Court has granted interim bail to parliamentarian Rashid Engineer in connection with a terror funding case.
The bail, effective until October 2, 2024, allows Rashid Engineer to campaign for the upcoming J&K Assembly elections.
Engineer’s brother, Khursheed Ahmad, who is also a candidate for the Langate constituency, confirmed the bail to the media.
He thanked the judiciary, noting that the court’s decision underscores its impartiality, treating leaders from Jammu and Kashmir and New Delhi equally.
“The court’s decision reflects fairness and impartiality, akin to the approach towards leaders like Arvind Kejriwal. The court has shown that there is no distinction between mainstream leaders from Kashmir and Delhi”, he added.
