NDA organizes Covid-19 awareness & medical camp to mark UN International Day of Peace

Jammu: Nations Development Association (NDA) J&K on Monday organised its 31st Covid-19 awareness cum medical camp at Shri Guru Ravidass Sabha Bishnah (SGRDS) in association with Directorate of AYUSH J&K (ISM). The local population was given AYUSH immunity boosting drugs supplied by ISM under supervision and guidance of expert team of doctors while following the guidelines issued by the local administration.

The camp organised by NDA is dedicated to the United Nations International Day of Peace for the first time it was observed in September 1982 and in 2001, the General Assembly adopted a resolution 55/282, which established 21 September as International Day of Peace, Non- Violence and cease fire.

Over 200 people were attended by team of doctors of ISM led by Dr. Suresh Sharma, ADMO, Jammu including Dr. Veenu Gupta, MO AYUSH J&K and Vipan Khajuria. Earlier, awareness on Covid-19 was also conducted by a team of doctors.

The camp was inaugurated by tehsildar Bishnah Sohan Lal Rana in the presence of Block Medical Officer (BMO), Bishnah Dr Rakesh Magotra, Chairman Shri Guru Ravidass Sabha Bishnah Er R.C Bhasin, Vice Chairman Er Surinder Devgowda, president and former chief education officer Sardari Lal and Member’s SGRDS Bishnah chairman NDA Sushil Singh Charak, local Sarpanch, Panch’s, Sukanya Devi, Meenu Devi, Naresh Verma and Covid-19 Relief representative of civil society and local administration.

While inaugurating the camp the chief guest tehsildar Bishnah Sohan Lal Rana appreciated the role of Directorate of AYUSH J&K, ISM and NDA Covid-19 Relief and Response Team under the ages of NDA and the associated social organizations those who are involved in the service of humankind during this pandemic risking their lives. In his address, chairman NDA Paryavaran Ratna awardee Sushil Singh Charak attributed the success of the camp to the spirit of Shri Guru Ravi Dass, Guru of the Nation.

Addressing the gathering he stressed on the current pandemic situation prevalent worldwide. He laid emphasis on the fact that the corona crises can only end in two scenarios – the first being a medical treatment aspect and other is a social aspect. The medical treatment of the pandemic stems from the development of an effective and safe vaccine.

Focusing on the social aspect, he requested people to maintain basic hygienic standards like washing hands, wearing masks & maintaining physical distance in their daily life. Later he informed the gathering regarding the 31st relief camp and the distance covered by the organisation to reach so far. Defining the efforts of the organization along with the Directorate of AYUSH J&K, ISM associated civil society and social organizations, he observed that completing 31st camps was not that easy.

But as the journey began on November 21, 2020, the support from the community began pouring in and what seemed to be difficult became easy. With the conclusion of camp today the number of beneficiaries has reached to about 5050 across Jammu & Kashmir.

He also expressed gratitude towards ISM J&K Director Dr Mohan Singh and all district ADMOs for their trust in the social organizations like NDA. On the occasion, team of doctors and members of the relief & response team were honoured by NDA.
