Srinagar: To mark World Youth Skills Day, the 7 J&K Battalion NCC organized a special program in Kupwara aimed at promoting skill development, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance among the youth. The event brought together enthusiastic NCC cadets from various institutions across the region.

The occasion was graced by Brigadier Deepak Sajjanhar, SM, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters Srinagar, who delivered the keynote address. The event also featured two inspiring guest speakers:   Jameela Begum, widely recognized as the Flag Lady of Kupwara, and Mubeena Ali, affectionately known as the Mushroom Lady of Lolab.

In his address, Brig. Sajjanhar emphasized the transformative power of skill development, stating, “Skills are not just tools for livelihood—they are the foundation of self-confidence, national service, and empowerment.” He applauded the guest speakers for being local role models who exemplify courage, innovation, and dedication.

Jameela Begum inspired the audience with her experiences in civic activism and her commitment to upholding national values at the grassroots level. Mubeena Ali shared her journey in agricultural entrepreneurship through mushroom cultivation, encouraging youth to explore sustainable self-employment opportunities.

The program aligned with the goals of the Skill India Mission and Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), urging cadets to integrate practical skills with their NCC training. The event served as a platform to broaden young minds, encouraging them to become future entrepreneurs and job creators rather than job seekers.

The celebration concluded on a high note, leaving a lasting impression on the cadets about the importance of innovation, resilience, and local success stories in nation-building.
