Delhi: Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday paid heartfelt tribute to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, acknowledging his legacy and contributions to Indian politics. Sidhu expressed that Singh’s name would be etched in golden letters in the annals of Indian political history.

In a post on X, Sidhu described Manmohan Singh as “a legendary Prime Minister, who is and will remain a cult figure forever.” He continued, “His legend will keep growing because institutions never die, they continue to inspire generations.” Sidhu added, “Whenever the history of character, ability, and honesty is written in Indian politics, your name will be on the first page in golden letters. There was no one like you before, and there will never be anyone like you again.”

Sidhu also shared an old video from the 84th Congress Plenary session in 2018, where he had publicly apologized to Singh for his earlier comments about him. In the video, Sidhu had called Manmohan Singh both “a Sardar and asardar (effective).” He expressed regret for his past remarks, saying, “I want to apologize to Sardar Manmohan Singh with my head hanging down. What your silence (maun) has achieved, the noise created by the BJP could not.”

Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26 at the age of 92 after battling age-related illness, prompting an outpouring of tributes and condolences from across the world.
