MVA MPs Meet Union Agriculture Minister; Demand Removal of Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate

New Delhi: Members of Parliament from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) today met Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, demanding the immediate removal of Maharashtra’s Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate. The delegation strongly objected to Kokate’s repeated controversial statements and alleged anti-farmer stance.

The MVA MPs pointed out that Minister Kokate has often made headlines for his insensitive comments and behaviour. Whether it is making arrogant remarks towards farmers or his statements on farm loan waivers, Kokate has consistently insulted the farming community, they alleged.

They also highlighted a recent controversy where Kokate was caught playing online rummy on his phone during the Assembly session, despite the grave issue of farmer suicides in the state. “Such behaviour is unacceptable and tarnishes Maharashtra’s cultural and political traditions,” the MVA leaders said.

The delegation told Union Minister Chouhan that Kokate’s conduct is not only damaging the state’s image but also causing harm to farmers’ interests. They demanded that Kokate be asked to resign immediately and be replaced by a sensitive leader who understands and prioritises farmers’ issues.

NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule, who was part of the delegation, also shared the appeal on social media, tagging @ChouhanShivraj and @CMOMaharashtra.
