Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his Bandra residence in the early hours of Thursday, prompting the Mumbai Police to form seven investigation teams. The attack, which occurred during an attempted burglary, left the actor with multiple injuries, two of which are deep and one near his spine. He is currently undergoing surgery at Lilavati Hospital.
An official statement from Saif Ali Khan’s team confirmed the burglary attempt, stating, “There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation.”
According to Dr. Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, Saif has sustained six injuries. One of the injuries is close to his spine, and another on his neck is being evaluated. “We are operating on him. He is being operated upon by a team of doctors, including Neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, and Anaesthetist Dr. Nisha Gandhi. The full extent of the damage will be known only after the surgery,” Dr. Uttamani said. The surgery began at 5:30 AM, and the actor’s condition is being closely monitored.
Following the incident, the Mumbai Police detained three individuals working at Saif Ali Khan’s residence. The police are investigating the case and working on identifying the intruder responsible for the attack. Seven police teams have been formed to ensure a thorough investigation.
The incident occurred at the Satguru Sharan building in Bandra, where the actor resides with his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan. At the time of the attack, Kareena was not at home.
