Mumbai Weather: Hot and Humid Conditions Push Temperature Near 39°C

Mumbai residents experienced another uncomfortable summer morning on Sunday as the city recorded warm temperatures and rising humidity levels under mostly clear skies.

By 8:30 am, the temperature had already climbed to 31°C, with weather conditions remaining hot and sticky across several parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Heat and Humidity Continue Across Mumbai Region

Weather agencies indicated that temperatures in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai could rise sharply during the day, with maximum temperatures expected to touch between 37°C and 39°C.

While no official weather warning was issued specifically for Mumbai city, neighbouring districts Thane and Raigad remained under a yellow alert due to persistent hot and humid conditions.

Meteorologists said residents could expect sunny to partly cloudy skies during the first half of the day, followed by mild sea breeze activity later in the afternoon.

Air Quality Remains Uneven Across City

Despite the rising heat, Mumbai’s overall air quality stayed in the “good” category on Sunday morning, with the city recording an AQI of 41.

However, pollution levels varied sharply across localities, with some areas witnessing dangerous air quality conditions.

Mandapeshwar emerged as the most polluted area in the city, recording an AQI of 455, placing it in the hazardous category. Mirashi Nagar also reported unhealthy air conditions with AQI levels crossing 270.

Several suburban areas including Sindhi Society and Borivali West registered poor air quality levels, while locations such as Borivali East, Kandivali East, Malad West and Wadala Truck Terminal remained in the moderate category.

In contrast, Green Hills recorded the cleanest air in the city with an AQI of just 5.

Residents Advised to Stay Hydrated

Health experts have advised residents to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours due to the combination of heat and humidity.

People with respiratory conditions, senior citizens and children have been urged to remain cautious in areas witnessing poor air quality levels.

Authorities also recommended staying hydrated and limiting strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
