In a recent BJP dialogue meeting in Sindhudurg, Kankavali MLA Nitesh Rane fervently rallied sarpanchs from various villages, urging them to throw their support behind his father, Narayan Rane, in the upcoming elections. Addressing the gathered leaders, Rane emphasized the critical importance of securing a significant mandate for his father’s candidacy.

“Everyone should implement the system in such a way that this election is theirs,” asserted Nitesh Rane, underlining the need for a unified effort among the sarpanchs. He further emphasized his personal stake in the electoral outcome, stating, “I want as many or more votes than you got in your election. If I get even one percent less than that, I won’t be able to do it. I will sit down on June 4 to account for everyone.”

The significance of the June 4 deadline, as highlighted by Rane, lies in its ramifications for future funding allocations. “Because after that, you have to come to MLAs to ask for funds,” he reminded the sarpanchs. “If we don’t get the lead we want on June 4 and you don’t get the funding you want in time after that, you don’t want to complain.”

The Sindhudurga and Ratnagiri Lok Sabha constituency has emerged as a battleground for political factions, particularly between the BJP and Shiv Sena. Union Minister Narayan Rane, speaking on April 2, expressed his determination to contest and win the seat if given the opportunity by the BJP. However, the constituency has become a point of contention within the alliance, with conflicting claims from both parties.

While Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has put forward Kiran Samant as their candidate, backed by Industrial Minister Uday Samant, the BJP is adamant about securing the seat for Narayan Rane. Narayan Rane justified the BJP’s stance by questioning the basis of Shiv Sena’s claim, pointing out the allegiance of sitting MP Vinayak Raut to UBT Shivsena. Rane further asserted BJP’s organizational strength, positioning it favorably against its alliance partner Shiv Sena.
