Mumbai: Mumbai’s controversial Mithi River desilting scam has taken a new turn with Bollywood actor Dino Morea appearing before the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for questioning. On Monday morning, Morea reached the EOW office around 11 am to record his statement in connection with the case involving alleged irregularities worth over ₹65.54 crore.

According to India TV sources, the actor was summoned after the investigating team unearthed multiple call records linking Morea, his brother, and the prime accused in the case — Ketan Kadam. The content and frequency of these calls are now under detailed analysis by the authorities.

Sources in the EOW suggest that these conversations could offer crucial insights into the financial misdoings and potential links between the accused parties. While the actor’s role remains unclear, officials are examining whether these exchanges point to direct involvement or knowledge of the scam.

The alleged fraud centers around the procurement and rental of sludge pushers and dredging machines used for cleaning the Mithi River — equipment hired at inflated rates from a Kochi-based company, Matprop Technical Services Pvt Ltd. The scam reportedly involves collusion between the company, civic officials from the BMC’s Storm Water Drains Department, and private players including Kadam and another key accused, Jai Joshi.
