Late Thursday night, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal found himself in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concerning a money laundering case linked to an alleged liquor policy scandal. As the details unfold, here’s a glimpse into how Kejriwal spent his first night in ED custody.

In the confines of the ED’s office premises, restricted solely to police and media personnel, Kejriwal had his last meal before being escorted to the probe agency’s lock-up. Reports indicate that upon arrival, he was provided with basic amenities—a mattress and blanket—for the night ahead.

According to an India Today report, Kejriwal’s night at the ED’s lock-up commenced with a simple dinner before he settled into his designated space, complete with air conditioning but lacking a proper bed. Despite his stature, no special arrangements were made for his accommodation.

Throughout the night, the ED ensured Kejriwal’s well-being by offering him tea, coffee, and breakfast, mindful of his diabetic condition. The probe agency made appropriate arrangements to cater to his health needs.

Despite his predicament, Kejriwal’s tenure as Delhi’s Chief Minister remains unaffected, as confirmed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Plans are underway for Kejriwal to challenge his arrest through legal channels, adhering to protocol. Currently stationed at the ED’s office on Delhi’s Abdul Kalam Road, Kejriwal is slated to appear before a special court designated for cases involving the probe agency.

Meanwhile, in a show of solidarity, AAP leaders, including Delhi Ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi, were detained by Delhi police during a party-led protest against Kejriwal’s arrest. Bharadwaj voiced their stance, emphasizing Kejriwal’s right to legal representation and the need to carry out his official duties.

As the developments unfold, the spotlight remains on Kejriwal’s legal battle and the implications it holds for Delhi’s political landscape.
