Massive Protests Erupt Across Maharashtra Against Election Commission and Mahayuti Government Corruption

Mumbai: Maharashtra witnessed a wave of political protests on Monday as opposition forces, including the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) and leaders from the INDIA Alliance, took to the streets against the Election Commission and the Mahayuti government.

In Thane city, senior NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Dr. Jitendra Awhad was at the forefront of a massive demonstration targeting the Election Commission. The INDIA Alliance leadership in Delhi has declared its united resolve to “oppose the Election Commission with full strength,” calling the movement a fight to safeguard the country’s democracy. Protesters accused the Commission of bias and vowed to intensify their agitation.

Meanwhile, Navi Mumbai became the epicentre of a public outrage movement against what protesters called the “corrupt and tainted ministers” of the Mahayuti government. Hundreds of Shiv Sainiks and activists poured into the streets, raising slogans demanding immediate action against the accused ministers.

The most high-profile protest unfolded at Shivaji Park in Dadar, where Uddhav Thackeray personally led a large gathering of party loyalists and senior leaders. The crowd, carrying placards and shouting anti-government slogans, demanded the resignation of ministers facing corruption allegations. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leadership accused the Eknath Shinde-led dispensation of “massive corruption” and “selling out public trust.”

Monday’s demonstrations were part of a state-wide agitation, with protests staged simultaneously outside all district collector offices in Maharashtra and several government offices in Mumbai.
