West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress’s leader, Mamata Banerjee, declared that the INDIA alliance is gearing up to contest all constituencies in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Addressing a rally, Banerjee emphasized the alliance’s commitment despite challenges in agenda, leadership, or strategy.
Speaking passionately at a public gathering in Chakla, West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, Banerjee highlighted the Trinamool Congress’s initiatives, drawing attention to existing welfare measures for the disadvantaged. Notably, she underscored her government’s long-standing provision of five kilograms of rice to the underprivileged, a program that the BJP pledged during their election campaigns.
Banerjee also shed light on the financial challenges posed by the BJP-led central government, emphasizing that despite the halt in funds to West Bengal, her administration sustained the MGNREGA scheme for 45 days, enabling people to continue earning a livelihood.
Highlighting the slew of welfare schemes initiated since assuming power in 2021, Banerjee enumerated the Trinamool Congress’s efforts, including free ration distribution, healthcare provisions under the Swastha Sathi card, and financial aid programs like Laxmir Bhandar.
Underlining the commitment to education and women’s empowerment, Banerjee outlined the schemes offering Sabuj Sathi cycles to Class 9 students and smartphones to those in Class 12. She elaborated on financial incentives for unmarried women, scholarships, and grants under the Kanyashree scheme, emphasizing women’s empowerment as a cornerstone of their agenda.
Encouraging TMC workers to engage with and serve the people selflessly, Banerjee reiterated the party’s dedication to public welfare. She emphasized that the party’s essence lies in serving the populace and urged workers to actively engage with communities to fulfill their needs.
Mamata Banerjee’s spirited address reflects the Trinamool Congress’s determination to expand its political footprint nationally, setting the stage for a heated electoral contest in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
