Maj Gen AS Bevli, VSM, visits 7 J&K Battalion NCC in Kupwara

Srinagar: Maj Gen AS Bevli, VSM, Additional Director General (ADG), Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Directorate of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), recently visited the newly established 7 J&K Battalion NCC at Pathahirri, Kupwara, to assess its operational readiness and developmental progress.

During the visit, Col Amit Bhardwaj, Commanding Officer of the battalion, briefed the ADG on various aspects including cadet enrolment, training initiatives, and infrastructure development. Raised under the NCC Expansion Plan, the battalion currently operates across 58 educational institutions in Kupwara, Bandipora, and Baramulla districts, with an authorized cadet strength of 3,520.

Maj Gen Bevli commended the battalion’s swift establishment and outreach, emphasizing the vital role of the NCC in instilling discipline, leadership, and a spirit of national service among the youth, particularly in border regions.

As part of his visit, the ADG also met with Maj Gen K Mohan Nair, YSM, SM, General Officer Commanding, 28 Infantry Division, and expressed his gratitude for the Indian Army’s unwavering support in operationalizing the unit.

Later, Maj Gen Bevli visited the Government Degree College, Kupwara, where he addressed a large gathering of NCC cadets. He encouraged them to uphold the ideals of selfless service and national pride. He also felicitated cadets who had played a commendable role in assisting the relocation of civilians from border areas, praising their dedication and courage.

The ADG interacted with the Associated NCC Officers (ANOs) and staff of the college, reaffirming the Directorate’s commitment to the holistic development of youth in the region.

The Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Directorate remains resolute in its mission to empower young citizens through character-building, leadership training, and meaningful community engagement.
