With the electoral battleground heating up, the ruling Mahayuti alliance comprising the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP is intensifying its campaign efforts in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency. Set to address a public rally in Saswad on April 11, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, aims to bolster support for their alliance ahead of the crucial polls.
The Baramati Lok Sabha seat has become a focal point of contention within the Pawar family following the split in the NCP. In a showdown pivotal for the political trajectories of Ajit Pawar and his uncle Sharad Pawar, Sunetra Pawar, Ajit’s wife, squares off against Supriya Sule, daughter of NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar.
Amid public expressions of dissent from senior BJP and Shiv Sena leaders towards Ajit Pawar over historical rivalries, the ruling alliance is navigating internal differences to present a united front in Baramati. Notably, alliance leaders Harshvardhan Patil of BJP and Vijay Shivtare of Shiv Sena have reconciled with Ajit Pawar, signaling a strategic shift.
Emphasizing unity and rallying support for Sunetra Pawar’s candidacy, Chief Minister Fadnavis framed the contest as a battle between ideologies, urging party cadres to view it as a showdown between Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi rather than a familial feud.
In a symbolic display of solidarity, Shivtare, who previously declared his intent to contest against the Pawars, has pledged full support to Sunetra Pawar’s campaign. A planned public rally in Saswad, organized by Shivtare, is anticipated to galvanize momentum for the ruling alliance and underscore their commitment to victory in Baramati.
Responding to the mounting opposition, Supriya Sule reaffirmed her resolve to stand against the coalition, likening their collective efforts to the East India Company’s dominance. Undeterred by the challenge, Sule asserted her determination to uphold her principles and thwart attempts to derail Sharad Pawar’s political legacy.
As the political arena in Baramati intensifies, all eyes are on the upcoming showdown, with the Mahayuti alliance and its adversaries gearing up for a decisive battle that could reshape the region’s political landscape.
