Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has assured that the Ladki Bahin Yojana, a key welfare program for women, will continue without interruption. Speaking at an event in Thane on Monday, Shinde reaffirmed the Mahayuti government’s commitment to women’s welfare, saying, “The Mahayuti government would never allow the Ladki Bahin scheme to be discontinued.”
The Ladki Bahin Yojana provides women with monthly support of Rs 1,500 and has played a significant role in the BJP-led coalition’s success in the state assembly elections in November 2024. The program, which has garnered widespread praise for empowering women, remains a cornerstone of the Mahayuti’s governance, which includes Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction and Ajit Pawar’s NCP.

In his address, Shinde also touched on the progress of development projects in Maharashtra, highlighting the resolution of long-delayed housing schemes. “Development projects that had been put on hold for over 25 years will now be completed on time,” he promised. Shinde also spoke about the government’s “cluster scheme,” which will address housing and rehabilitation needs for affected families, ensuring they receive their due benefits.
The deputy CM’s comments solidify the Mahayuti government’s focus on continuing welfare schemes for women and advancing key infrastructure projects across the state.
