In a timely and resolute response to a minor scuffle that erupted in Naya Nagar, Mira Road, on the eve of the Ram Temple inauguration in Ayodhya, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis swiftly intervened, directing the Police Commissioner to take immediate action.

The incident occurred on Sunday night during a rally organized to celebrate the upcoming Ram Mandir inauguration event in Ayodhya. Tensions flared between two groups, reportedly triggered by sloganeering near a religious institution in the Naya Nagar area.

Fadnavis, taking to X (formerly Twitter), shared his concerns and actions, stating, “About the incident occurred last night at Mira Road: I took detailed info on what happened in Naya Nagar in Mira Bhayender last night itself. Also was constantly in touch with Mira Bhayender CP till 3.30 am. Police were instructed to take strictest action against the culprits.”

He added, “13 have been arrested so far & detailed analysis of CCTV footage is underway to identify & arrest others involved too. There will be zero tolerance against anyone who tries to take the law in their own hands and attempts to disturb the law & order situation in Maharashtra.”

The Mira Bhayandar – Vasai Virar (MBVV) police played a crucial role in diffusing the tension, preventing the incident from escalating into a more significant conflict. DCP (Zone I), Jayant Bajbal, described the verbal arguments as “nothing but a scuffle over a petty matter,” urging citizens not to succumb to rumors and emphasizing that no communal flare had been reported in connection with the incident.

Recognizing the sensitivity of the situation, a substantial deployment of police personnel was stationed to prevent any untoward incidents, particularly due to the presence of rumor mongers in the area.

An investigation into the matter has been initiated, and further actions will be taken based on the findings of the probe. Authorities remain vigilant to ensure the peaceful conduct of events surrounding the Ram Temple inauguration in Ayodhya, with the Pran Pratishtha ceremony scheduled for January 22, Monday.

In preparation for the historic event, the Maharashtra government had issued a notification on January 19, declaring a state holiday on January 22. The government’s commitment to maintaining law and order during such sensitive times is evident through the decisive actions taken by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the prompt response of the Mira Bhayandar police.
