Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday presented the Maharashtra Budget for 2026–27 with a total outlay of ₹7.69 lakh crore, outlining a development roadmap aligned with the state’s long-term vision of “Viksit Maharashtra – 2047”.
Presenting the Budget in the Legislative Assembly, Fadnavis said the government aims to drive economic expansion through investments in infrastructure, agriculture, industry, urban development and social welfare while maintaining fiscal discipline.
The Budget estimates revenue receipts at ₹6.16 lakh crore and revenue expenditure at ₹6.56 lakh crore, resulting in a revenue deficit of ₹40,552 crore. The fiscal deficit for the year is projected at ₹1.50 lakh crore, remaining within the limits prescribed under the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) framework.
The government has proposed large investments in transport infrastructure, metro networks, expressways, ports and renewable energy projects, while also expanding welfare initiatives for farmers, women and socially disadvantaged groups.
Among the key announcements, the government proposed a farm loan waiver of up to ₹2 lakh for eligible farmers, expansion of metro networks in major cities, development of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region economy, and a push for renewable energy and industrial growth.
The Budget outlines development across four broad pillars — progressive growth, sustainable development, inclusive welfare and governance reforms — which the government said will guide Maharashtra’s economic strategy in the coming decades.
Detailed sector-wise allocations and policy measures are expected to be discussed during the Budget debate in the coming days.
