Mumbai: The Maharashtra government announced the allocation of guardian minister portfolios nearly a month after the BJP-NCP-Shiv Sena coalition came to power. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has been assigned Gadchiroli, while fellow Deputy CM Ajit Pawar will oversee Pune district.

Shiv Sena chief and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde will serve as the guardian minister for Thane, his home district, as well as Mumbai city. Meanwhile, State Ministers Ashish Shelar and Mangal Prabhat Lodha have been appointed guardian ministers for the Mumbai suburbs.

Notably absent from the list is NCP leader Dhananjay Munde, the Food and Civil Supplies Minister, who previously served as the guardian minister for Beed. Munde is currently facing scrutiny over the Beed sarpanch murder case, which may have influenced his omission.

The appointments come at a crucial time as the government works to solidify its administrative framework following the alliance formation. Guardian ministers play a pivotal role in coordinating development and governance in their respective districts, making these allocations significant for regional progress.
