Bengaluru: The Lokayukta police investigating the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment case stated on Wednesday that the charges against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his wife, Parvathi, could not be proven due to a lack of evidence.
Officials confirmed that the final report has been submitted to the High Court. In a letter to activist Snehamayi Krishna, the complainant in the case, the Lokayukta police said, “Since the allegations against accused-1 to accused-4 have not been proven due to lack of evidence, the final report is being submitted to the High Court.”
Apart from Siddaramaiah and his wife, his brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy and landowner Devaraju were also accused in the case. However, the police clarified that further investigations would continue into the broader allegations of compensatory site allocations by MUDA between 2016 and 2024, with an additional final report to be submitted under Section 173 (8) of the CrPC.
The controversy revolved around allegations that compensatory plots were allotted to Parvathi Siddaramaiah in a prime area of Mysuru, despite her land, acquired by MUDA, being located in a lower-value region. Under the 50:50 ratio scheme, MUDA had allocated plots to Parvathi in exchange for 3.16 acres of land used for residential development.
