The announcement for the upcoming elections is expected to be made on March 15. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a series of pre-scheduled programs lined up until March 14. Some of these programs include laying foundation stones in various states.
Given that the Prime Minister’s engagements are scheduled until March 14, March 15 appears to be the most probable date for the election announcement.
Once the announcement is made on March 15, the election code of conduct will be put into effect on the same day. This signifies the official commencement of the electoral process.
During the last Lok Sabha polls in 2019, the election process was completed in 11 phases nationwide. In Maharashtra alone, the elections were conducted across 4 phases.
Results from the 2019 Lok Sabha elections were declared on May 23. Following this, Prime Minister Modi took the oath of office on May 30. This means that before May 30, the new government, along with the 18th Lok Sabha, must be formed.
As the country awaits the announcement of the election date, the timely conduct of the electoral process is crucial to ensure the smooth transition of power and the formation of a new government.
