Mumbai: In a chilling account of the late-night attack at Bollywood star couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence, a police chargesheet filed in Mumbai has revealed harrowing details of how the actor was stabbed while confronting an armed intruder. The incident occurred inside their upscale multi-storey apartment in Bandra, where the couple lives with their two children.
The 1,613-page chargesheet, submitted before the Bandra Magistrate Court by the Mumbai Police, names Bangladeshi national Shariful Islam as the accused. Islam is charged with trespassing, attempted murder, and assault.
According to Kareena’s official statement to the police, the horrifying sequence began while the family was asleep. The intruder, armed with a knife and a hexablade, was spotted near their child’s bed. “I told Saif, ‘Leave all this, let’s go down first, let’s go to the hospital,'” Kareena told investigators, recalling the moment she urged her husband to abandon the confrontation and seek medical help after he was stabbed multiple times.
Despite being gravely injured, Saif reportedly searched the house for the attacker before Kareena insisted they escape to safety. The actor sustained wounds on his neck, back, and hand during a scuffle with the intruder, whom he confronted asking, “Who is it? What do you want?”
Their caretaker Geeta also suffered injuries while trying to intervene. Kareena recounted screaming for help as she, Sister Eliama, and the children—Taimur and Jeh—rushed to the 12th floor of their triplex home. “Sister Eliama and I took Jeh and Taimur and went to the 12th floor,” she said in her statement. Saif, covered in blood, joined them moments later.
The family then hailed a rickshaw to Lilavati Hospital, where Saif was treated. Kareena called her sister Karisma Kapoor and also alerted Tejas Damania, husband of her manager, who informed the police.
The chargesheet contains statements from 111 witnesses, including Kareena and Saif, as well as staff members who were present in the apartment that night. It also details how the intruder gained access and fled the scene.
