Mumbai: A fresh political storm erupted on Saturday after BJP Mumbai President Amit Satam launched a strong attack on comedian Kunal Kamra, saying the comedian “needs psychiatric treatment” following a social media post that triggered heated reactions online. Satam alleged that Kamra’s remarks were not merely distasteful but indicative of “deep emotional instability,” which, according to him, warrants professional intervention.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Satam said, “I think Kunal Kamra needs psychiatry treatment. His mental health is not good, and he needs to be taken care of by a psychiatrist. These kinds of statements do not come from a normal state of mind.”
His sharp criticism came after Kamra uploaded a post that the BJP has termed “provocative” and “disrespectful,” though party leaders refrained from commenting on potential legal action at this stage.
