New Delhi: Delhi Assembly elections have intensified as AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning his silence on the National Herald case and Robert Vadra getting a clean chit from the BJP. The remarks further exposed the cracks within the opposition’s INDIA bloc, where both AAP and Congress are partners.

Taking to X, Kejriwal responded to Gandhi’s allegations with sharp counterattacks. “Modiji puts people in jail even by making fake cases like the liquor scam. Why haven’t you and your family been arrested in open-and-shut cases like the National Herald? How did Robert Vadra get a clean chit from BJP? It is better if you don’t preach on fear and bravery. The country knows who is a coward and who is brave,” Kejriwal posted in Hindi.

The war of words erupted after Gandhi, while addressing rallies in Patparganj and Okhla, accused Kejriwal of failing Delhi. He criticized the AAP chief for the alleged liquor scam, calling it the “biggest scam” under his rule while he remained engrossed in “sheesh mahal politics.” He also accused Kejriwal of disappearing during the 2020 Delhi riots and failing to stand up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gandhi mocked Kejriwal’s self-proclaimed honesty, stating, “Who gives themselves certificates of honesty? Only dishonest people do that. An honest person earns trust from the public, not through self-certification.”

In Okhla, where Congress candidate Ariba Khan faces AAP’s Amanatullah Khan and BJP’s Manish Chaudhary, Gandhi rallied Muslim voters, claiming, “We will spread love in front of Modi’s face. We are not afraid of him.” His remarks came as Congress aims to regain lost ground in the capital, while AAP fights off both BJP and Congress in a tight contest.

With polling scheduled for February 5 and results on February 8, the escalating feud between AAP and Congress signals deeper divisions within the INDIA alliance, raising questions about its unity ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
