Srinagar: The Chinar Open Winter Games 2025, a premier winter sports event organized by the Indian Army, concluded successfully in Gulmarg, amidst the breathtaking snow-clad landscapes of the Pir Panjal ranges. Hosted by the Pir Panjal Brigade of the Dagger Division, the event was a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, youth empowerment, and community spirit.
This year’s edition witnessed record-breaking participation, with 634 athletes competing across 18 events, including 167 girls and 467 boys—a testament to the growing enthusiasm for winter sports in Jammu and Kashmir. Competitors showcased their skills in high-adrenaline skiing races, thrilling snowboarding events, and elegant skating performances, captivating large and enthusiastic crowds.
Beyond the competitive spirit, the event also emphasized community engagement through impactful outreach programs, reflecting the Indian Army’s commitment to fostering sports and nurturing young talent in the region.
As the Games concluded, they stood as a testament to Jammu and Kashmir’s rising prominence in winter sports, reinforcing the region’s potential as a premier destination for national and international sporting events.
