Handwara: The Khaki Association, led by its President Annu Pasricha, organised a grand Veer Nari Samman Ceremony at Environment Hall in Handwara to honour the families of martyrs and Veer Naris for their sacrifices, courage, and unwavering dedication to the nation.
The event brought together nearly 250 participants, including senior government officials, members of civil society, social activists, youth leaders, media representatives, and local residents. The programme aimed to recognise the resilience and strength displayed by the families of fallen security personnel.
The ceremony was organised with the active support of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sheikh, while noted social and peace activist Dr. Sheikh Jamsheed oversaw the overall coordination and management of the event. Their efforts ensured the smooth and dignified conduct of the programme.
As part of the ceremony, 35 families of martyred Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel and six families of Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) martyrs were felicitated. Mementos and tokens of appreciation were presented to acknowledge their immense sacrifice and service to the country.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shrikant Balasaheb Suse (IAS), Senior Superintendent of Police Handwara Sahil Sarangal (IPS), Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara Javed Naseem Masoodi (KAS), Tehsildar Handwara Zeeshan Khan (KAS), Divisional Forest Officer Langate Aizaz Panjwari, Bar Association Handwara President Advocate Nadeem Majeed Dar, social worker Dr. Aabida War, J&K Bank Handwara Branch Head Mohammad Naveed Saraf, Global Youth Foundation President Tauseef Raina, representatives of Awami Welfare Forum, Kashmir Writers Association Director Tahir Majeed, Advocate Mir Imran, Faisal Mohi-ud-Din Sheikh, and DLSC Member of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sahil Pathan.
The media fraternity was represented by Handwara Media Association President Aatif Qayoom along with several journalists and media professionals.
Addressing the gathering, Annu Pasricha reaffirmed the Khaki Association’s commitment to supporting the families of martyrs and ensuring that their sacrifices remain remembered by future generations. She described Veer Naris as symbols of courage, dignity, and patriotism whose resilience continues to inspire society.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Sheikh Jamsheed said that honouring the families of martyrs is a collective responsibility. He noted that the sacrifices of security personnel and the strength shown by their families should motivate young people to contribute towards peace, unity, and nation-building.
Over the years, the Khaki Association has undertaken several patriotic, social, and humanitarian initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between security forces and the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The organisation has regularly conducted programmes focused on honouring martyrs, supporting Veer Naris, promoting national integration, encouraging youth participation, and fostering social harmony.
The ceremony concluded with a collective pledge to continue supporting the families of martyrs and uphold the values of sacrifice, service, patriotism, and national unity. The event served as a moving reminder that while martyrs are no longer physically present, their legacy lives on through the courage and resilience of their families.
