Srinagar: The Kashmir connection with Bollywood is getting stronger day by day since last year’s inauguration of the valley’s first multiplex by Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha. Since then, the Bollywood industry has resumed its focus on this part of the country. In the series of such efforts, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi said on Sunday that Kashmir has a tremendous potential wherein investments can be made in its hospitality sector.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a function in Srinagar, he said Kashmir youth are by birth fully acquainted with the hospitality sector. When people from different parts of India come here, Kashmiris treat them with a nice manner (Tehzeeb). The way they love and treat their guests is an inherent trait of Kashmiris.

He said Kashmiri people are charming and friendly and they can do really well in the hospitality sector because it’s the right time.

The Bollywood actor said that his company, iScholar, an EdTech start-up, will invest in the education space in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the idea is that a significant number of Kashmiri youths go to Mumbai, New Delhi, or Kota (Rajasthan) to study if they want to prepare for medical school or IIT, then, “why can’t we bring the best teachers here to form an emotional connect with these students.”

The Bollywood actor was the part of the function in which United Arab Emirates (UAE) based EMAAR Group has decided to invest Rs 250 Crore to set up a mega-mall on the 10 lakh square feet area at Sempora, Srinagar.

Pertinently, this week many top celebrities visited Kashmir parts for shooting their upcoming movies, including superstar Sanjay Dutt, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhat, Karan Johar, and Tamil cinema filmmakers.
