Hyderabad: A day after being suspended from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) by her father and party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao, Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha on Wednesday resigned as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and also announced her exit from the party.

“I am resigning from BRS and submitting my MLC resignation letter to the Council Speaker,” Kavitha declared, making her decision official.

Addressing the media, Kavitha launched a sharp attack on senior BRS leaders T. Harish Rao and Joginapally Santosh Kumar, accusing them of plotting against her and her father. She also expressed disappointment with her brother K.T. Rama Rao, alleging that he ignored her repeated concerns about conspiracies within the party.

“I went to Bhavan and met brother KTR. I explained the false campaign and the conspiracies against me. I pleaded with him, not just as a sister but at least as a party MLC. But he did not care, nor did he even call me later. This is not recent; it happened long back,” she said.

While calling her father KCR her “inspiration,” Kavitha accused Harish Rao of colluding with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. “I never sought any position. I am resigning from the Legislative Council and also from the primary membership of BRS,” she stated firmly.

Her resignation came just a day after KCR suspended her for “anti-party activities,” following her public accusations that Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar were damaging KCR’s image. Notably, Harish Rao is Kavitha’s cousin.
