A special CBI court in Mumbai finally passed the verdict in the sensational Jiah Khan suicide case on Friday, almost 10 years after the actress’ shocking demise.
Actor Sooraj Pancholi, who is the son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was accused of abetment of suicide by Jiah’s mother. Sooraj was in a relationship with Jiah until she ended her life.
On Friday, the court pronounced Sooraj as “not guilty” and he was given clean chit, citing lack of evidence.
The verdict was earlier set to be pronounced at 10:30 am, however, Jiah’s mother Rabia submitted some last-minute documents to the court, due to which the verdict was pushed to 12:30 pm.
The judge asked Sooraj to come forward and announced that the actor has been aquitted due to “paucity of evidence”.
The court also informed Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan of her right to appeal against the order.
