New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday welcomed Commonwealth Secretary General-elect Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, emphasizing India’s expectation that the Commonwealth should be more purposeful, efficient, and reflective of its members’ views.

Jaishankar also held bilateral talks with Bolivian Foreign Minister Celinda Sosa Lunda, marking a new phase in India-Bolivia relations. He highlighted the opening of India’s new Embassy in La Paz and the signing of an agreement on Quick Impact Projects (QIPs).
“The recent opening of our new Embassy in La Paz reflects our resolve to deepen the India-Bolivia partnership. Today’s signing of an agreement on Quick Impact Projects is another step forward,” Jaishankar stated.
India Backs Brazil’s COP30 Presidency
Reaffirming India’s commitment to global climate action, Jaishankar extended full support to Brazil’s presidency for COP30 Amazonia. Meeting Andre Aranha Correa do Lago, President of COP30, Jaishankar emphasized India-Brazil collaboration on climate goals within platforms like G20, BRICS, and the United Nations.
“Extended India’s full support to Brazil’s presidency for a successful and outcome-oriented COP30,” Jaishankar announced.
