Jaipur Internet Shutdown Today: Mobile Data Suspended Before Major Encroachment Removal Operation

Internet Curbs Imposed Before Large-Scale Civic Action In Jaipur

Authorities in Jaipur have temporarily halted mobile internet services across several parts of the city as preparations intensify for a significant encroachment clearance operation scheduled for Monday. The preventive measure has been introduced to ensure peace and prevent the spread of misleading information during the exercise.

The administration believes that unverified messages or provocative content shared through digital platforms could create unnecessary tension and affect public order during the operation.

Road Expansion Project At The Centre Of The Drive

The action is linked to a Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) initiative aimed at expanding a key roadway running alongside the railway line between the Nandpuri Underpass and Jagatpura. Officials say the road is officially sanctioned to be 80 feet wide, but encroachments have significantly reduced its usable width in several sections.

Authorities maintain that restoring the road to its approved dimensions will improve traffic movement and enhance connectivity in one of the city’s rapidly growing residential corridors.

Mobile Data, Messaging Platforms Temporarily Blocked

Under orders issued by Jaipur Divisional Commissioner V. Sarwan Kumar, mobile internet services, including 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks, have been suspended from midnight Sunday until midnight Monday in designated areas.

The restrictions also cover bulk SMS services and internet-based messaging applications. Popular social media and communication platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook and X will remain inaccessible through mobile data networks during the shutdown period.

Multiple Police Jurisdictions Covered By Restrictions

The temporary suspension extends across several police station jurisdictions under the Jaipur Police Commissionerate and nearby district areas.

Authorities have also deployed additional security personnel at sensitive locations while specialized cyber monitoring teams have been tasked with tracking online activity and identifying attempts to circulate rumours or inflammatory content.

Administration Warns Against Rumour-Mongering

Officials have cautioned residents against sharing unverified information related to the operation. The administration stated that strict legal action will be taken against individuals found spreading misinformation or content capable of disturbing public harmony.

Citizens have been urged to cooperate with authorities and rely only on official updates regarding the ongoing civic exercise.

Religious Structures Among Encroachments Identified

As part of the road-widening project, officials are expected to remove five religious structures situated within the designated right-of-way of the proposed road corridor.

According to JDA Vigilance Branch Deputy Inspector General Anand Sharma, a previous operation conducted on May 22 resulted in the removal of 134 encroachments along the same route. Following that action, management committees and concerned stakeholders were provided time to voluntarily relocate structures falling within the project area.

With the allotted period now concluded, authorities have decided to move ahead with the next phase of the clearance drive.
