Jagdambika Pal Responds to Owaisi, Assures Waqf Bill Will Benefit Poor Muslims

New Delhi: Jagdambika Pal, Chairman of the Waqf Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), has responded to AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s concerns over the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, stating that the proposed changes will benefit poor Muslims, Pasmandas, and widows.

In his remarks to ANI, Pal addressed Owaisi’s opposition, referencing past political debates. “When Article 370 was discussed, Mehbooba Mufti had said that rivers of blood would flow. The way Triple Talaq Bill benefited, similarly, when the new Waqf Bill comes, it will also lead to benefits,” Pal remarked.

He further pointed out that Owaisi himself had been involved in the JPC’s discussions, participating in meetings where amendments were passed through voting, and opposition dissent notes were recorded. “Owaisi himself has been part of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), participating in meetings, amendments were passed through voting, the report was adopted, and even dissent notes were taken,” Pal said.

Pal emphasized that the government’s intention with the Waqf Bill is to preserve places of worship and ensure the benefits of Waqf properties reach those most in need, including the poor Muslims, Pasmandas, and widows. This comes in response to Owaisi’s warnings on Monday, where the AIMIM leader cautioned that the current form of the Waqf Bill could lead to social instability in the country.
