Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce critique of the Congress Party on Wednesday, October 9, branding it as an “irresponsible” entity that operates as a “hate-spreading factory.” His comments came just a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a significant victory in the Haryana Legislative Assembly elections.

During a virtual event inaugurating projects worth ₹7,600 crore, PM Modi alleged that Congress seeks to divide Hindus and foster animosity between communities. He asserted, “Congress always creates fear among Muslims and treats them as a vote bank,” indicating his belief that the party manipulates communal sentiments for political gain.

The BJP retained power in Haryana, winning 48 out of 90 seats in the assembly. This victory surpassed the majority mark of 46, while Congress, which had aimed for a comfortable majority, managed to secure only 37 seats. In light of this, Modi stated that the election results in Haryana reflect the broader mood of the nation, expressing confidence that the BJP would achieve an even “bigger victory” in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections.

In his address, the Prime Minister criticized the Maha Vikas Aghadi, a coalition of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), Nationalist Congress Party (led by Sharad Pawar), and Congress, claiming they aim to weaken Maharashtra merely to maintain power. He emphasized that the ruling Mahayuti government would focus on strengthening the state.

“Our goal is Viksit Bharat with the development of the poor, farmers, youth, and women,” PM Modi declared, reiterating the BJP’s commitment to national development.

As the political landscape shifts in the wake of Haryana’s election results, Modi’s statements signify a broader strategy to consolidate support ahead of upcoming elections, positioning the BJP as a party dedicated to unity and development against the backdrop of Congress’s alleged divisive tactics.
