Indian Army organises 50th Vijay Diwas celebrations at Batergam Chowk in Kupwara

Srinagar: The historic victory of Indian Armed forces over Pakistan in 1971 War is a unique and unparalleled feat wherein Indian Armed Forces fought selflessly for a just and noble cause of liberation of the people of erstwhile East Pakistan and the creation of a sovereign and independent Bangladesh

As part of 50th Vijay Diwas celebrations 2021, a cultural extravaganza was organised by Indian Army, Kupwara Terriers on Thursday at Batergam Chowk, Kupwara. The celebration was organised to commemorate and recognize the courage and valour of Indian Army soldiers during 1971 War in an amusing cultural way, promoting the rich heritage of Kashmir and creating an enabling environment for the local theatre artists to reach a wider audience through their songs, dance and dramatics.

The event was kick started with local singers taking the stage and mesmerising the audience with their enthralling performances. Three School children namely Injila Suad Army Goodwill School (AGS), Wayne, Munahil Javid AGS Wayne and Sehrish Rashid, Dream world Institute delivered speeches highlighting the importance of the occasion and its significance for the people of Kashmir.

Local sensations Sajad Ah and Bilal Ahmed, Sharda theatre kept the audience enchanted. Imam Din DC Kupwara, Javid Ahmad, Tehsildar Kupwara, Tariq Ahmad, BDO Qadirabad, Tahira Beagum, DDC Qadirabad, Mohammad Sultan, VLW Gulgam graced the event with their presence.

Speaking on the occasion Imam Din DC Kupwara thanked the Indian Army for their immense sacrifices for maintain peace throughout the country and in J & K. He urged the people to choose peace over violence & development over extremism.

Colonel Swaraj Bhattacharya, Commanding Officer of 160 INF BN (TA) (H&H) expressed his gratitude towards the local theatre artists for presenting such culturally rich performances commemorating and recognising the courage and valour of IA soldiers during 1971 War in a unique way. He also thanked the Imam Din DC Kupwara and other civil administration officials for sparing their valuable time to attend the event which served as an encouragement to the performing local artists.
