Indian Army Conducts Timely Medical Evacuation Amid Heavy Snowfall in Vilgam

Kupwara: Upholding its finest traditions, the Indian Army braved heavy snowfall and extreme weather conditions to successfully carry out a timely medical evacuation in the Vilgam area of Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The operation was conducted by the Indian Army’s Vilgam Battalion, which evacuated two critically ill patients from the remote village of Vilgam to the Government Medical College (GMC), Handwara. The evacuees included a 20-year-old pregnant woman and a 58-year-old woman suffering from an ischemic stroke.

Despite treacherous terrain and severe weather conditions, the swift and well-coordinated response of Army personnel ensured that both patients received urgent, life-saving medical treatment.

Local residents appreciated the effort and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army for its dedication, professionalism, and continued humanitarian service in challenging conditions.
